| Summary: | The first part of this article deals with some theoretical reflections on the importance of active learning in higher education. In the context of the European Higher Education Space, new student-centered learning approaches should be promoted. For that purpose, problem-based learning becomes an appropriate educational approach. The second part describes the underlying philosophy, the basic components and the instructional sequence of this innovative approach. En este artículo se exponen, en primer lugar, diversas consideraciones teóricas en torno al concepto de aprendizaje activo y al significado que éste adquiere en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje en la universidad. En segundo lugar, y una vez justificada la importancia de otorgar un papel activo a los estudiantes a la hora de aprender, se describen las características y el proceso de desarrollo del aprendizaje basado en problemas. Esta metodología de enseñanza aprendizaje resulta de gran interés en el contexto del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, dada su potencialidad para desarrollar competencias muy diversas en el alumnado y para favorecer el aprendizaje activo a través de la dinámica habitual de las clases. |
