Summary: | Clergy sexual abuse is happening in faith communities. Particularly, Korean immigrant churches, though playing crucial roles in empowering immigrants’ agency and providing support networks, often fail to support survivors because of both a dysfunction of culture and a fragmented educational ministry. Along with the #ChurchToo movement, young women are challenging themselves to find their agency and heal their wounds; however, they still often lose a sense of belonging and are marginalized in the church. This paper proposes that the church can be a wholeness koinonia to advocate for survivors by practicing radical compassion, transformative listening, and by remembering the disremembered. |
